Fit a 1 inch scope on a Weaver rail
How a 1 inch scope mounts to a Weaver base, and the one-way ring compatibility to know.
Direct fitA 1 inch scope fits a Weaver base with 1 inch Weaver rings. Those rings also fit a Picatinny rail, but the reverse does not always hold.

A 1 inch scope takes 1 inch rings, and Weaver rings clamp the Weaver slots directly. If you later move to a Picatinny rail, the same Weaver rings usually still fit because their cross-bar is thinner than the Picatinny slot.
Do not assume it works the other way. A Picatinny ring with a full-width 5.23 mm lug will not enter the narrower 4.57 mm Weaver slot, so buy Weaver-compatible rings for a Weaver base.
